MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT - 9-19-08
September 19, 2008
Dear UHCL Students, Faculty, Staff and Alumni:
Following our administrative team meeting this morning, I have several items to report to you. Trees and debris have been cleared from roadways, sidewalks, and parking lots. We have power to all of our buildings with the exception of the Arbor Building. Sewer services at UHCL are working effectively. As of this morning, the Clear Lake City Water Authority has lifted its boil water notice.
As of today, we expect to open UHCL for classes on Monday, September 22. If power is not restored to all of our buildings by Sunday, we will make every effort to move classes and services to alternative locations on campus until power is restored. We will open the UHCL campus today (with the exception of those buildings without power) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for those faculty and staff who would like to see and use their offices in preparation for the start of classes next Monday. Faculty and staff are not required to be on campus today or over the weekend; this is strictly optional if you would like to do so. Please enter through Entrance #1.
If we have any change in plans regarding the opening of UHCL, the information will be on the UHCL Hotline (281-283-2221) and at www.UHCLemergency.info.
When classes resume at UHCL, if any of our students cannot attend classes, please notify the instructor of each course. For our faculty and staff, if your circumstances do not permit you to return to work when the university opens, please notify your supervisor. We realize that individual circumstances will vary significantly, depending on where you live and what has happened to your residence.
Our number one concern continues to be your safety and well-being. Take care.
I will provide you with another update this weekend.
