UHCL Monitoring Seabrook Explosion
University Remains Open
This morning a chemical plant explosion occurred in Seabrook creating an acidic plume of smoke over the area. Seabrook residents have been ordered to shelter in place. Due to the prevailing winds, the acid cloud is being dispersed away from the UHCL campus and is not a danger to the university community.
The Police Department is monitoring the weather conditions and all emergency networks, and will advise if action is needed on campus. Please use the emergency hotline at 281-283-2221 to get up to the minute information on school closure status.
